ΚΑΛΛΙΤΕΧΝΙΚΗ ΔΗΛΩΣΗ

Μαρία ή Κάλλας; Ποιο πλάσμα φανερώνεται; Υπάρχει τελικά αποκάλυψη;

Στις Πληγές ραμμένες στα σκοτάδια, η μορφή της Μαρίας Κάλλας

γίνεται ένα σώμα ανάμεσα στην ταυτότητα και την περσόνα,

στο χάρισμα και στο τίμημά του.

Η Κάλλας φέρει τη μάσκα. Η Μαρία γυμνή, όμως ακόμη καλυμμένη με επιδέσμους.

Στο σώμα, ραφές, σημάδια και ερωτήματα.

Θεά ή Δαίμονας;

Αγάπη ή Ελευθερία;

Πού τελειώνει η γυναίκα και πού αρχίζει η Divina;

Η φωνή, το ταλέντο, η ανάγκη για ελευθερία και η θυσία συνυπάρχουν χωρίς απάντηση.

Ένα τελευταίο ερώτημα μένει κρυφό, σφραγισμένο πάνω στο έργο.

Αν σπάσει η σφραγίδα, θα διαβαστεί. Αλλά, δεν θα απαντηθεί ποτέ.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

Maria or Callas? What creature reveals itself? Is there, ultimately, a revelation?

In Wounds Stitched into Darkness, the figure of Maria Callas becomes a body suspended between identity and persona, between the gift and its price.

Callas wears the mask. Maria stands bare, yet remains covered in bandages.

Across the body: stitches, marks and questions.

Goddess or Demon?

Love or Freedom?

Where does the woman end and the Divina begin?

The voice, the talent, the longing for freedom and the sacrifice coexist, without resolution.

One final question remains hidden, sealed upon the artwork. If the seal is broken, it will be read. But it will never be answered.

The artwork was created in response to the exhibition Visions of Maria, September 2026.
