La Femme

Woman

Woman

Cursed

Imprisoned

Naked

And unreasonably alone.

Woman and fate

Light and wind

But most of all

Sea

Deep and untamed

With sharp, long claws

Legs crooked

Arms burnt

with a peacock’s tail

And her back, hunched.

Words, spells, lies

Charms, amulets

The big snake with the vicious tongue

And a cat with hooded eyes

Slim and silent

For a thousand years licking her fur.

A thousand years I’ve lived alone, buried in wrecks, wandering through the ruins

of temples of the mind.

A thousand years gone, a thousand years to come and yet

you haven’t found me…
